To say that the last few months have been busy, is an understatement. I feel like I am trying to constantly keep up and am barely doing a good job of it.
So I feel badly that the last few months of Flannery's life have gone by with little documentation and here is my attempt to catch up!
In the last few months, Flannery has learned how to put her little Croc shoes on and most times, puts them on the right feet! She is talking more, understanding more, doing more. I joke that she's 21 months, going on 16 years. She wants to do everything her big brother does and why not? No seriously, why can't she climb to the top of the climbing wall on the playground or color with markers? She is one funny kid and we marvel at her determination and lack of fear. She loves to dress up and will wear just about anything she finds appropriate or appealing. As you can see in the picture above, she found my bathing suit top and accessorized it with a belt. She went to Sunday night dinner and church in that outfit and seemed unfazed by the giggles she got. By now, she is putting two words together, "Ap, peas," (help please) or "Ane you" (thank you). We are teaching her how to say love you and at night before bed, she kisses and hugs us and sometimes says it on her own. One fun thing she says is "Maaaymen!" after we pray. She still can't say her vowels well so she says, "Mummy" (yummy), "Bapple" (apple) or "Babby" (Abby). It's super cute!
She loves animals and like Amos, calls them by their sound.
She is a big girl, weighing 24 lbs and 30 inches tall. She loves her new kitty backpack that I found on sale at Old Navy and can say "Ba-pa" when she wants to put it on. She likes to put her little stuffed animals and blanket in there to take with her. She has gotten into cuddling more with her animals and blankets, which is good because she has so many! It's really sweet to see her show her animals affection and point out their eyes, nose, mouth, ears and hair.
She recognizes babies and even calls herself baby, we're pretty sure. We are trying to call her "Baby Sister" less and just "Sister" more often.
Many times, in the morning, she'll ask about Baba and I'll tell her he went bye-bye to school and we'll say bye-bye again. And then she'll ask about Daddy and I'll tell her he went to work or is upstairs. I love how she checks in and when we are on our way to pick Amos up from school, she gets really excited. She really loves her family and I think, misses us when we are gone.
She is still a little singer, singing various Star Wars songs and other familiar songs. She also sings her own songs, often when she is waking up.
These past few months have also been challenging, again, with the fussiness. But I think it's her way of telling us that she's sick, teething or both. It's really hard for me to have compassion on her when I feel like she's following me around, fussing and pulling at my pants. But when she feels better, it's awesome and I am reminded of what a sweet little girl she is. I am always thankful for her, that she's in our family and for her sweet smile and heart. I look forward to when she can talk more and help us understand her even better!
