Last week, Amos had two snowdays. We made good use of them by making our traditional Christmas cookies: gingerbread and chocolate chip. Because the gingerbread needs to be chilled for awhile before baking, we whipped that dough up first and then mixed up the chocolate chip cookies and baked a few of those. My helper, Chef Amos was super stoked to eat these cookies. They are a treat in this house and he has enjoyed eating a gingerbread cookie each day!

Later in the week, we got back to the gingerbread dough. At first, it was so dry and crumbly and I was afraid I had left it in the fridge for too long. I decided to try it and eventually, the dough warmed up and got less crumbly. Yay! We had fun rolling it out and making different shapes. I even made the kids' names!

(On a side note, Flannery has been pulling up all week and was quite proud of herself that she pulled up on the ladder. She was happy to be part of the action!)

Another year of cookie-making fun has come and gone and now I know why we only make the gingerbread cookies once a year...they take forever! Merry Christmas!
