Last week, Flannery finished her 9th month. It is funny to think that she has now spent equal parts in the womb and out of the womb in her little life.
She is continuing to grow, physically and mentally. She's been sitting up with confidence since around seven and a half months. She's still army crawling, but can go from her tummy up to sitting up and back down again. She can get up on all fours but still has no idea that she can move around that way. She does funny "yoga" poses though. So far, she's best at doing the downward dog!
Flannery also still has her few faces and sounds that she makes. I think she's trying to communicate with us, and so she makes these faces and sounds frequently. I have been teaching her baby sign language. So far I've tried to teach her the signs for all done, more and please. She barely does al done, and when we try to get her to sign something, she claps. And then tries to do the sign we're asking. This afternoon, she was eating Cheerios and then started to babble. When I realized what she was "saying" it seemed to be, "more" except she was saying "Mah, mah!" I gave her more O's and she was happy. Who knows if that's her first word, but I'll be listening for "mah!"
Eating O's has been a helpful step both for me and for Flannery. Like the binky, it helps to soothe things and stretch time a little bit further. Plus, it's just been fun to see her pick up
another skill.
another skill.
We love our little Laney bug. She and Amos are bonding more and more each day. They play games together and laugh. She loves to watch her brother play. I think I've figured out that she's a bit more introverted than Amos and that is what seems to be the biggest difference between the two. She's still expressive has definite opinions, but she seems to enjoy watching rather than doing. She has a great laugh and smile and it's been fun to watch her little teeth come up. This week, she's getting between two and four of her upper teeth. I can't tell how many are coming but it'll be a few at least.
