Amos 3.75

It's hard to believe that another year of Amos' life is almost complete!
He is one cool kid if I do say so myself.
I know that many of the past posts have been mostly about Flannery but we are still reveling in who our little guy is growing to be.
He is still very musical. He can sing a song back to you, almost perfect melody, pitch and rhythm after hearing it only once! He absolutely is musically inclined!
His memory is amazing. If he hears Nathan or I telling a story that he remembers, he likes to chime in and tell his part of the story. Most of the time, that event happened 6-8 months ago.
He is starting to be interested in words. He points out when he hears words that sound the same or almost the same. He also has been working on learning the sounds that letters make and what letter begins a specific word by hearing the sound. We're excited about that and want to teach him to read soon!
He still loves to play "trash" where he makes a big pile of toys or boxes or other random things. While we love to encourage his creativity, sometimes we have piles of things taking over one part of the room.
He also loves to play with things that aren't toys...he likes to empty the big box of Costco wipes and put them on his trucks or play with toilet tubes. He loves sand and water, like most kiddos his age.

Amos is getting into sports more, playing basketball, baseball and throwing balls in general. He's an active little guy!
He is saying the most hilarious things, mostly stuff that he's heard us say...
"Mommy, the garbage man is on Facebook!"
(When listening to music...) "Mommy, is this Rock 'n' Roll?" (Usually, the answer is yes!)
"Mommy is the sun going down" (Yes, it is.) "Awe, I miss it!" (He asks this every night!)
"Is Baby Sister awake?" (Yes!) "HI BABY SISTER!! I'm Amos and I wuv you!!!"
"Mommy, I don't have a drink in my tummy for Baby Sister like you do."
"I doubt it!"
"Mommy, can I watch a *restruction movie?" (*construction)
On Sunday, we had our first major boo boo with him that kind of freaked us out. He was running after church (which we always let him do, and he loves it!) and tripped and fell, hitting his head on the foot of the communion table, which is solid wood. He hit the corner of his left eye as he was falling, and then also bumped under his hair, above his ear. That part started bleeding and we were thankful to have a pediatrician friend there who looked at it and gave us the ok. We would have taken him in for stitches if needed, but were glad that we didn't have to! So Amos has his first official black eye and we're thankful that his first head injury wasn't too bad and most of all, that it didn't bother his shunt or the tube that runs from the shunt down to his gut.

Last Thursday, it was warm enough to do a Clifford "sprinkle" which totally made his day. Amos has been asking almost daily is it is warm enough out for a Clifford sprinkle. He has been asking since last fall, so it was with great delight that I told him it was indeed warm enough. He had a blast, too!
(Amos' swimwear is brought to us from the summer of '08--that's right, he still fits into the shirt AND shorts! He's crazy skinny and small!)
Today we played BINGO, Amos' first official board game. We got him a checkers game that came with other games and since checkers was a bit advanced, we tried BINGO. He enjoyed it, and played the whole game. I think he liked the spinwheel too!

We are so thankful for our little guy. And we can't believe how old he is already. He's such a gift!

Awww, he is such a cute little guy. I wish we lived closer, I think our boys would be such friends:)(and they could start a band:) Man he just barely missed his eyeball on that fall! Glad he is OK.
