Friday night was a cold one! We had a great time, going to an art show opening at the church (where there is an art gallery) and then to the Berends' for a wine tasting party. Amos did well and played for a bit, then went to bed upstairs in the guest room. Nathan and I had fun tasting different expensive wines and stayed up waaay past our bedtime!
Saturday morning, we woke up to gently falling snow that was just starting to cover everything. It snowed all day and it was so beautiful. We had fun walking down the block to the indoor Winter Farmer's Market. We found some yummy apple cider to take home and heat up! Amos loved the snow. Loved it. He would have stayed outside, playing, all day if we had let him! Thankfully, the steroid that he's on now helps his lungs so that he can be outside for a bit without coughing. He did get a bit irritated with the snow when it would stick to his shoe. He doesn't like things to be dirty and requests quite urgently, "Mama, wash!" The snow on the shoe was no exception so I had to keep telling him that it was ok!
When we got home, we watched A Charlie Brown Christmas and Amos loved it. Since we've been listening to the music all week, he was excited to hear it on the video. He also loved that Snoopy played guitar! (Mama, doggy, ma-nu-MAH!).
After we all napped, we went out to eat and then went Christmas tree hunting. We went to a little tree place but after hearing their price, headed to Lowe's. Sorry folks, we just don't have that kind of money!
Amos was sooo excited about the trees! He even found a little branch and was excited to have a tree, just like Dada. After we got our tree, he kept saying, "Dada(!), tree! Amos(!), tree!"
We brought it home and put Amos' little branch in a jar of water! Nathan got our big tree set up and Amos was right there, to help him, with his tool set. And that's as far as we got. We saved the tree trimming for today and had lots of fun!
The scene behind our house.

After our naps, we all piled into the tent!

And I decorated the mantle with our nativity scene. Or I should say, the dancing lady, Amos' tree, our Waterford crystal cross and Blue, the fish, were joined on the mantle by Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus and the farm animals, and some snow!

Sunday:
After our naps, we all piled into the tent! And then we decorated!! We remembered to add our new ornaments, from Beth, Dan and Eli, in Malawi!!
And then Amos found a nice big tin. He figured out how to roll it, much like hoop rolling (thanks, Dad!) and had a blast! Leave it to Amos to find something to roll, play like a drum and wear like a hat.

We had another viewing of A Charlie Brown Christmas during the bedtime breathing treatment and snack. I love the dancing scene! It is far too short!!

Wish you all were here with us!

Oh, I wish I was there, too! It rained last night and felt a little chilly, so we are thankful for that.
I LOVE that Amos got annoyed with the snow on his boots. 'oh hilarious' And I love that he has a Charlie Brown Christmas t-shirt, and his little "christmas tree". The Malawi ornaments look so good!!! Oh, I just loved the whole post and cried at the end. We miss y'all so much. Merry Christmas!
So adorable! That sounds like the perfect little family Christmas season weekend! Wish I was there too
