It's been crazy busy around here, with Christmas approaching. I guess I can join the club!
The past few weeks have been especially busy as Nathan and I have both been involved with the worship services at church on Sunday mornings--me with the kids and Nathan with the adults!
It's been fun though, and I have enjoyed being involved at church again.
Amos, of course, is continuing, as ever, to grow and blossom. He's continuing to talk a whole bunch and is learning new words and is getting better at saying words he already knows.
A few new things: He is counting alot lately. And if he sees or realizes that he has more than one, instead of counting the ones in front of him, he'll just start counting. He'll go, "Mama, one, two, three, four..." and will show you what he's counting. Then usually, we'll just count the ones he has which end up being just two. But it's fun to see him grasp the concept of more than one, and to see him get excited about counting them.
Another thing he likes to realize is "home." If we're out and we hear a song that we listen to at home, he'll say, "Mama, home." And then I have to acknowledge that we have that one at home. Or, if we brought something home, he'll recognize that too.
He's really gotten into building lately. He has a box that's come partially apart and he likes to set one side up against the wall. He'll put it up all over, on the step, on the wall and when he does, he comes to get me to show me. Then he says, "Mama, no, no, no cook," and pulls my pant leg to come and see. So, I've had to teach him to say, "Mama, come," so I can go see what he's done. He also likes taking little pieces of his kinex toys and balancing them on top of cars, trucks, Nathan's guitar case, etc. He gets very excited about that too!
We've had to set limits on the amount of times that we watch A Charlie Brown Christmas, these days. He's hooked! When he's ready for another viewing, he says, "Mama, Amos watch Snoopy!" to which I either reply, "Ok" or "You've already watched Snoopy today!" Tonight, he recited a line, word for word, which got us rolling with laughter. And then he almost said the word stupid after Lucy was talking to Linus about his stupid blanket. Thus, we'll be fast forwarding that part from now on!
Needless to say, it's all very enjoyable.
One last thing that may or may not be of interest again: teething. That's right, now he's getting his two year old molars. And they are worse than the regular molars. He's horrible at teething anyway and these have been so painful for him. So he's on pretty regular Tylenol doses. Anytime he seems out of sorts, I just stick my (sanitized) finger in there and sure enough, there's a boulder trying to breath through his gums. Poor guy!
Sorry for the lack of pictures this time. But next time, I promise, there will be photos up!
