Weekend fun

This weekend we had lots of fun. We thought it was going to rain Saturday morning so we went to the Children's Museum and played. We did all of our favorite things and had more fun since Da-da came with us. After lunch and naps, we went to a new playground in Garfield Park and enjoyed the swings there. And then we picked up sand at Lowe's for a makeshift sandbox. He used the Target dollar bin sand toys and had a blast. It was tough to pull him away for dinner but since it was pizza, he was soon happy again. Today was Missions Sunday at church, to focus on our missionaries and missions in general. We had folks speaking in German, Swahilii and Hindi. It was really neat. Amos had a particularly tough time in church today; maybe it was from teething, which led to minimal breakfast intake which led to blood sugar crash coinciding with sleepyness. We made it through to communion, which we took and then went home. Amos ate an ok lunch and appeared to be tired but ended up staying up to play awhile while Nathan ate lunch. I napped and later, Amos did too. It was great to get much needed rest. For snack, Amos ate a banana and crackers, and then Amos wanted to eat my apple, which is unusual. He is not really into fruit but I was glad to give him what was left and he seemed to love it. Since it was getting down to the core, I found another apple and peeled off the outside. He happily chewed into it, eating some more apple. We were so excited that he wanted to eat fruit and that he liked it. After our snack, Amos found his new favorite book for Da-da to read. Go, dog. Go! is a classic and we have the smaller, board book version. This book has a story that goes with it (unlike his other favorite truck book that just has lots of pictures of trucks) and has to do with Amos' two favorite things right now--dogs and cars. He loves for us to read it to him, which can get a bit boring, reading it over and over and over again. We're glad he's interested though and are excited to read to him. We had dinner at our favorite pizza place and after two spontaneous meltdowns from Amos, it was time to go. Poor guy is probably teething. Some Tylenol, a binky and a stroller ride up and down the Canal downtown seemed to help things. The Canal is a place we've always heard about here as a cool place to go walk or hangout. We enjoyed walking there and were glad to have finally discovered it.
After talking with the fam on Skype and looking at Aunt Bethany's huge belly (Elijah could come any day now!!!), Amos is off to bed.
What a fun time we had!
