Amos is our little talker, officially!

Amos has been putting two or more words together this week. He's saying "more, please!" which sounds like "mow tseess!" On a good moment, he'll do three words, usually saying, "Mow ooo's tseesss!" And he's learning more words. Well, more like more sounds. He's like the blue guy on Sesame Street that tells about the things he saw on his walk by saying their sounds. So when Amos sees a guitar, he says "manah manah manah?" or a dog, he says, "uff uff" or the newest addition, a duck, "maa maa maa" with a scratchy low voice, which is hilarious. And when I try to get him to say the name of the thing, he says the sound. Mama and Da-da are the only names he knows and lately he's been calling us. Nathan and I have been practicing with him, telling him to call the other and then we answer his name back, going something like this:
(I say) "Amos, let's go find Da-da..." (then Amos says) "Da-da!" (then Nathan answers back) "Amos!!" (the Amos hears him, his face lights up as we get closer) "Da-da!!" and back and forth.
So this morning, Nathan reported that he heard Amos call him, at 5:26, saying, "Da-da, Da-da Da-da..." Nathan put him back to bed since it was so early and soon, Amos was calling "Mama, Mama, Mama," at which point Nathan put him back to bed. A few minutes later he was calling us both. Nathan brought him to bed with us because I figured he was hungry. Amos nursed and then fell back asleep. Needless to say, we were all happy to sleep in, waking up at 10!
About a month ago, I tried to teach him the letter O, in conjunction with his new favorite snack, Cheerios. I held up the O puzzle piece from his alphabet puzzle next to my mouth that was shaped like an O and said, "OOOOOOH!" He didn't get it then but yesterday, he did get it, holding it up to his mouth and saying, "OOOOOO!" He also holds up any other round letter, the Q, the C, the D and the G. So we're going to get past that. For now, we are excited that he gets it and hope to expand on letters!
The last coolest thing I'll brag on is his ability to tell the difference between musical instruments. We were listening to a cd tonight and the next song opened with piano and he immediately pretended to play piano and said "dah, dah, dah." It was way cool. He loves the drums, guitar and now piano. We're working on the bass, next!
We are loving moments with him lately. We're enjoying his talking, his pretending and his dancing. He's obsessed with music, still, pointing to the radio when he wants to hear some loud rock.
He's turning into our little talker and our little musician, which is no big surprise to anyone, I'm sure!
