Weekend update

Thursday afternoon, our house was empty and sad. We said goodbye to the Robbins and Riberas and savored our memories from the past week. And while we were excited and anticipating Tom and Claire's arrival on Friday, we were happy to receive an invitation to dinner from the Berends, for Thursday night. We so enjoyed catching up with them and as usual, Amos was so happy to see all of the Berends and enjoyed playing with the kids. When we got there, Zach and Zane were playing in the backyard, enjoying the puddles and mud. They were covered with mud and had to take a bath before dinner!!

Friday afternoon, the Wilsons arrived. Tom and Claire took the day to drive up from St. Louis, where they had been visiting friends and family. That night we hung out at home and enjoyed a yummy chicken parmesan dinner. Amos wasn't so sure about the new company, at first, but he soon warmed up to them both, by testing their handrum abilities.
On Saturday Nathan took Tom and Claire downtown to see the Circle and the Library while Amos and I stayed home for a nap. Later that day we went to the museum and then had a yummy sushi dinner at a new (for us) place. Even though the place was packed and the whole thing lasted nearly two hours, Amos did pretty well. We ended our day with green tea ice cream and great conversation.

Sunday morning worship was great, as usual and afterward, we sent Tom and Claire on their way, back to St. Louis to catch a flight. After lunch and a nap, we ventured out again, picking out more dvd's to watch at Blockbuster and then getting dinner at the grocery store. Amos had his first car-ride shopping cart experience and we couldn't tell if he enjoyed it or not. We thought he would love it, but he kept asking to be taken out. I think he was adjusting! When we got home, we made dinner and then Nathan set up the rest of the speakers for our surround sound dvd player. To test the sound out, we watched a live U2 concert, which Amos loved! He was dancing, singing and playing the drums. That was much fun. Nathan and I ended the night with watching the first half of "There Will Be Blood" and we enjoyed it thoroughly.
Today we met with people who helped us set up goals and a timeline for Amos' physical and developmental therapy. It's exciting to be on that path and to hopefully see a faster progression in Amos' slow spots. For the most part, he is doing well and they were all impressed with his walking skills. And tonight we tackle taxes. Nathan's done the bulk, we just have to tell about our sales tax, medical expenses for last year and things we donated. It'll be a long night!

Amos wore a shirt that his Grandmarmie made for Uncle Jesse to wear when he was little.

This morning, Amos was happy to sit at his table and look at Da-da's guitar magazines!
