We're home and tired from a wonderful visit with family, again. Right now, Franklin and the Meeksarosa are my familiar comforts, filled with streets and places that I know and, my family, people who, in this neck of the USA woods, have known me the longest. I am pining to know things and to be known, to have familiarity and comfort. It's just a blessing to be so close and to be blessed with a good car and money to make the trip.
Amos and I played while Nathan attended a Worship Conference held at the church where we grew up, Christ Community. Nathan had a good time there and Amos and I had a great time hanging out with my parents, Beth and Dan and the dogs. The weather was perfect. The air was warm and the breeze was usually just right too. Today was a bit chillier and we did see some clouds and rain, but for the most part, we played outside alot, making use of sunscreen and new play hats. Amos loved running around with the dogs and after adjusting to the uneven terrain, enjoyed playing in the grass. We also got to be reunited with good friends Rick and Vicki Jensen and Holly Dutton, which was so great and a bit surreal.
Our drive home went really well. Amos slept solidly for the first two hours and was pretty low key for the third. We stopped for dinner and gas and then drove the rest of the way. Amos did really well, reading stories and playing flyswatter guitar and only got antsy in the last 45 minutes. He was happy to be home and while Nathan unloaded the car, we went for a walk to say hi to the cars zooming by our house. Somehow, after all that driving, he didn't get enough of cars! Tonight Nathan taught him the word brush, and we tried to distinguish teeth brushing and hair brushing. For Amos, saying the word brush might be the first word that he pronounces in its entirety. Many words he says the jist of, first or last parts of, but hearing him say brush all the way through was encouraging.
