We have been having a great time with the Riberas and Robbins in town. We all enjoyed church yesterday, even though it was a bit emotional. It reminded us all of how we used to worship together, with Nathan leading us and it was bittersweet. After chuch we went for a great pizza lunch and then had naps all around. We had a great dinner last night and played a fun game that's too hard to explain, so someday we'll have to play it together!
Today we had a slow and lazy morning, and during Amos' nap, Bethany, Jessica and I went to Trader Joe's. Beth was so excited to be going back to Trader Joe's where she kept exclaiming that everything was so cheap. We grabbed lunch from Chick-Fil-A (which excited Jessica) and after lunch, headed downtown to walk around. We walked down the cool and artsy street to the center of downtown (the Circle) and hung out at the big monument there for a little while. Amos was feeling a bit irritable this afternoon and threw a fit every time I picked him up. He is really into walking all of the time, everywhere now, and I think was feeling hungry and worn out from being in the warm sun. Too, his bottom left molar is about to break through so that's been giving him trouble too.
After we walked back to our cars (a good walk for two pregnant women and me, carrying Amos) we stopped by The Berend House (to introduce everyone to Julie and the kids) and the Dorsey House (to hang out with Jason for a minute and catch up), which was much fun. We had a simple dinner of finger foods and left overs and enjoyed another fun round of the game that's hard to explain!
Amos felt better after dinner, but still was ready for bed at 8. It's been so great to be able to put him to bed without being afraid that he'll wake up and need lots of help going back to sleep. Although, last night, he was up at midnight and 4 AM, until about 6. Nathan and I were pretty tired this morning!!
He's also really enjoyed having everyone around to entertain and play with. He did really well with his uncles this afternoon when he woke up and I wasn't here. I had everything ready: a snack and Muppet Show episodes to help him feel better, but he didn't need them. So that was encouraging!
The weather today was warm and beautiful. We enjoyed being out in short sleeves and flip flops. Who knows if it will last, but today, it was great to experience!
