Today, Nathan hits the big 3-0, and we plan to celebrate in a small family way. We had planned to have a dinner party last night, but due to sick children, we will postpone our party. We will still mark the big day, though, and it's already been a good one.
Nathan got to go have some tasty wine with friends last night. He was invited by our former housemate, Mike Berend, and when he arrived, Mike surprised him with more guests. They had a great time hanging out, but poor Nathan was called home, after Amos refused to go to bed, and I, so tired from all of yesterday's events and such, needed to go to bed, without Amos touching or breathing on me. Nathan graciously took him downstairs for a viewing of Charlotte's Web, and tried to keep Amos quiet while he barked for every animal he saw on the screen.
This morning things were drowsy and a bit intense, as Amos woke up very hungry from a lack of eating last night. After we got him calmed down (he crashes like his mom when he's hungry!), we all had breakfast together and were happy to see Amos wolfing down cheese, crackers, and cheerios. After breakfast, we sent Nathan to work, did our round of medicines (antibiotic, inhaled steroid, water, nystantin) and then bathed.
Amos was happy to play for the rest of the morning, seeming to feel alot better. He still is quite warm, so we are monitoring that, and giving tylenol as needed, but his independent play showed me that he is back to feeling like himself. I am thankful for less clinging today, as I can only take so much!
Our snow storm ended up being an inch or 2 of snow, with some ice. Big bummer. And later this morning, it snowed a bit more, but still, only another inch. For the first time this winter, I felt let down my the meteorologists, but realize that they, too, are not perfect and do make mistakes. Oh well!!
Tonight we get to have dinner, cake and presents, and dancing and merriment! We will remember our dear friends who also have birthdays today, or soon: Anne and Jonathan today, Keren on Sunday, Cheryl and Stacey next week. Happy Birthday!

Welcome to the 3-0 club Nathan! (I joined in December). From what my older friends tell me, the 30s are the best decade of your life. You have traded a bit of your youth for experience (which means your mistakes are less painful and people pay you more for that experience) but you are still young enough to do fun stuff too. I wish you and your cute little family the best! -=Christopher Loch
