On Friday, we packed up again and headed further south to the beautiful Key Largo. Dr Mike Berend's dad lives there in the winter months, and Mike set it all up for us to go and visit. We stayed in a beautiful resort with pools, restaurants and babysitters! ;) We loved the warm temperatures, lots and lots of swimming, and delicious food. We were among the few that brought their kids and thankfully, our kids were so very well behaved. We got many compliments which eased our self-consciousness a bit. We stayed in the beautiful Keys until Monday, when we packed up again, visited with Mr Berend and then headed north, back up to Cape Coral.
Then at on point in the Everglades, we realized that the power steering on our minivan had gone out. Nathan muscled the car into Naples and through help at the Auto Zone there, we found a small auto shop that had time to work on our car. The guy even dropped us off for lunch while he worked on our van. A few hours later, all was well again and we finished our drive. Again, much swimming took place and it was good to be out of the van. We had decided, though, to cut our time in Florida short in order to have a longer visit in Tennessee, on our way back to Indiana. So we packed up again and the next day, drove for 13 hours north, to GrrMama and GrrDada's house...
