I can hardly believe that six years have passed since the day that Amos surprised us and came into the world! I love having a six-year-old! Amos has been one fun kid and I feel that each year it only gets better. Living life with him has been so sweet and there are some days that I long to be back in our little house in Shoreline, WA, napping, walking or hanging out together. Life was so sweet when it was just he and I passing the days together that I try and hold on to those bits as much as possible. I think that's why this time with Levi has been so sweet--it's almost like reliving Amos' babyhood. This year, I didn't really have time or space to reflect on Amos' birth week, and felt strangely ok about it. I feel like so much has happened since then and all I could really do was reflect on who he is now and try to remember snuggling him as a tiny baby.
He is still a cuddler. Often times when he wakes up, he'll come in and cuddle with us. He loves being close and cozy. He's also still quite active. He loves to run, dance, play drums, wrestle, and all of the other active things that boys do. He's still not very adventurous and is pretty cautious when it comes to trying new things. It helps that we know this about him, so that we can try to push him, but not too much.
He's still super creative. He loves building with blocks, the couch cushions and Legos. He loves to dress up and still is really into drawing with pen and pencil or coloring in his Star Wars coloring books. It seems like is late to the whole drawing and coloring game, but that's ok.
Lately, he's really enjoyed setting up battles, with little green army men, tanks, helicopters, Star Wars figures and ships, and everything in between. They can be quite elaborate and sometimes I let him use the 3rd floor staircase to set them up. I love his little imagination and again, feel like homeschooling will only help him and his creativity to continue to blossom. I love giving him time and space to be a kid and play.
So that's who our six-year-old-boy is today!
Amos is a celebrator, and each year, we try to really go all out for him. He looks forward to it, I think because it's part of is personality and who God made him to be. So we tried to celebrate as often and as awesomely as possible!
The first celebration was during our trip to Lake Michigan. My sisters found a special birthday sign and I found special candles. He loved it!
The second celebration was on the actual day, and was lunch at Chuck E Cheese with Daddy and his good buddy, Townes. They ate pizza and played to their hearts' content.
That night, we went to an indoor pool, complete with multiple pools and water slides. We invited friends to swim with us and had lots of fun!
We loved celebrating our sweet boy. We love him so much and can hardly believe he's already 6!!
