Amidst all of the things that happened in the last month, one thing went by, seemingly unnoticed: Flanny turned 16 months old.
It was my hope that she would be walking by the time we went to the beach and it almost came true. While we were in Detroit visiting family, she suddenly started standing up and walking more, giving her relatives a show and giving us hope that maybe she was done crawling. Not so much, but almost.

In the last few days, she has been crawling much less. In fact, today, when she crawled, she got really frustrated and ended up standing up to walk to her desination.
And she continues to do really silly things. Amos and I regularly laugh at how ridiculous she can be. She loves to put things on and wear hats. She still loves to walk around the house, pushing her little walker. She sings the Darth Vader theme song all the time and someday, I'll get a good rendition on video!

But also, in the last month and with all the craziness, she's been more clingy, more suspect of new people and visitors to our house and more fussy. It's almost as if she has a renewed sense of stranger anxiety. Or maybe she never got over it to begin with! Either way, it's been tough as I don't do well with needy children, even if they are my own.
For our MI trip, I bought a new baby carrier, an Ergo, to help with carrying her to and from the beach and just in general. It has proven to be a great help with our little toddler, who is tipping the scales now at 23 lbs and is still quite "curvy!" It has been a big help and there are days that I wonder if she would be happy to be in the front carrier, all day long.
We love our little Flannery and are glad that she's growing so well.
