Remembering Flannery's birth...

(As with most babies, their birth stories are unique and Amos' and Flannery's stories couldn't be any more different. Every year, I remember the time leading up to Amos' birth and now, I find myself doing the same for Flannery!).

This time last year, we were trying to get my inconsistent contractions to come more regularly. My parents and sister & nephew arrived early on Sunday morning and while we waited for their arrival, the boys played in the snow. They drove in between snow storms and by the time they arrived my contractions had slowed down a bit. Soon, we were camping out, waiting for our baby to "show her face!"
By Monday, my mom was giving me herb treatments and I was trying every trick in the book to get labor going strong. What a gift/blessing/help it was to have her here, caring for me, listening to Flannery's heart beat. I was glad to be able to stay home and labor and not be at the hospital, for an indefinite time.

We wouldn't head to the hospital until the next day, but last year on this Monday, I had no idea what lay ahead.
