Last Thursday afternoon, GrrDada and GrrMama arrived after a snowy drive east from St. Louis. They were there visiting and decided to travel over to see us too. The drive was a bit treacherous for them and even though they loved the snow, they were glad to be out of it! We had dinner and a great evening together. Amos and Flannery both were glad to have their grandparents here. At one point in the night, my mom's phone rang and it was a client who was thinking she might be in labor. After trying to figure out the weather predictions, it was decided that they would stay overnight but that they would try to make it back home the next day, cutting their trip short. We were bummed but decided to make the best of it! The next morning, at breakfast, we decided to celebrate Flannery's 1st birthday, a month early. My parents brought a few treats and we celebrated with muffins. After breakfast, Flannery got to unwrap her treats. Mom and I did some creative wrapping! And after she cuddled with her new animals and tried on her new shirt, we headed outside to play in the beautiful snow that had been falling all morning.
We had a blast in the snow and then it was nap time for Flannery and time for my parents to head south. They had a slippery time until they got about 30 minutes south of us and then it was all ok. We were laughing about how they came through a snow storm for Flannery's birth and now, 11 months later, were here in a storm for an early celebration of her birthday. I guess that'll probably happen every year!
We were so glad that they came, even if it was just for a short time!
