My parents were here!

My parents made a surprise appearance last weekend. They were in the neighborhood (meaning the state of Indiana!) for a family reunion and decided to drive up to see us. My mom had a birth on Saturday morning and so then was able to take a few days off. So my dad called Nathan later on Saturday to make sure we weren't busy and then they came on Sunday night after the reunion. I was on the phone with my dad as they were approaching our house. At one point, I heard a knock on our front door and also heard it through the phone, which was on speaker. I thought it was strange that I heard it on the phone too, and thought that I was mistaken, that it actually had happened on the baby monitor. As I was explaining this, my dad was coming up the stairs and soon, I heard his voice on the phone AND in person. I started screaming when I realized he was here, and quickly asked if Mom was here too. She bounded up the stairs in excitement and I continued to scream! It was such a great surprise! And I was so surprised...I had no idea!!
After the excitement died down, we hung out for a bit and planned our day. They were only able to stay through Tuesday after lunch, but I was so glad to have them here for any amount of time!

On Monday morning, my dad's oldest brother, Uncle Terry, and two of his sons, asked to stop by on their way back up to Michigan from the family reunion. It was wonderful to see them as it had been awhile. Of course, they really only wanted to see Amos and meet Flannery! ;)

After they left, we headed to the Children's Museum where there was a new exhibit: Rockstars, Cars and Guitars. I knew both parents would love to see this so it was a great treat to go with them. My mom loved the Elvis stuff and my dad loved seeing the guitars and cool cars. Amos loved it all!

Dad checked out the guitars and famous names on some of them...

Bob Dylan...

Jimi Hendrix's guitar...

BB King's guitar, Lucille...

And Mick Jagger.

Nothin' like mini motorcycles!

And cool cars!

Afterward we headed to the Etch A Sketch exhibit, where there was another Elvis sighting!

Dad and Amos played on the world's largest Etch A Sketch!

And then it was time for more of our favorites...

...which included dressing up like dinosaurs and sitting on eggs! Even Flannery dressed up and sat on an egg!

Back at the homestead, we did lowkey stuff like have a yummy dinner together and play. Amos and GrrDada read the paper,

And then GrrMama got to do her favorite thing, give the kiddos a bath!

I almost didn't let them leave, but then realized that there were things they had to do attend to at home!

We LOVED having them here...I will gladly be surprised like that any time!!
