On the mend (Merry Christmas Eve!)

Last Wednesday morning was the beginning of Amos' turn around after being sick with the stomach flu. By Thursday, his appetite had returned and he was his normal, happy and energetic self. We were so thankful that he was feeling better and that he was starting to eat real food again. Even though he didn't lose a ton of weight, I began to worry a bit, as he doesn't really have any fat to spare!!
On Christmas Eve morning, I woke up feeling sad that we weren't packing to go to Nashville. Even though we had decided to stay close to home and the hospital, it was still hard not to imagine Christmas at the Meeksarosa, with all of its chaos and fun. The upside was that we had a pretty lowkey day and weekend, which was good for my bloodpressure and stress level! But we desperately missed being with the rest of our families and found ourselves wondering what to do next!!
So that morning, we made snowflake pancakes and then made plans to go downtown and look at the pretty Christmas lights at the Circle. Amos ran circles around the circle and then found his pockets, which greatly excited him! We decided it was time to warm up and headed inside for hot chocolate. Amos had his first cup of hot cocoa and loved it. We wandered around the bookstore for awhile and then headed home. It was a good way to spend Christmas Eve morning together and helped me feel better about missing our family.

That day, Nathan worked to prepare for church that night, and after dinner, Amos and I headed to church for the Christmas Eve service. It was beautiful, as usual, and Amos enjoyed the candle-lighting at the end.
