Goodbye Mom and Dad; hello Fall!!

My mom and dad stayed until Thursday afternoon. It was a short visit, but it was so sweet! On Wednesday night, we had dinner outside again, this time on the front porch. I made my first batch of chicken and dumplings and Nathan and my mom made an apple pie. They both were really delicious and we continued to enjoy our festive fall eating!
On Thursday morning, my mom and I made Amos a backpack (photos coming later!) and had a good time tag team sewing and watching Amos. He loves his new bag, which he loves because he gets to be just like his daddy.
After lunch and last minute cuddles and playtime, Amos played in Dad's truck while they packed. We had a great time with them and miss them already!!

Today we took our new students (two Thai girls, studying at IUPUI) to the international market. Amos wore his new shirt from GrrMama and on our way back in the house, we found a few red leaves on the ground. Amos said it was "so pwetty, Mommy!"
This morning, during breakfast, we read the Berenstain Bears book, The New Baby which is all about when Sister Bear comes and joins the family. Brother Bear grows out of his bed just in time to pass it down to his new sister and then he and his Papa Bear get to go in the woods and make a new one.
Anyway, after we finished the book, Amos said, "Hmmmmm, I wonder if me and my daddy can go to GrrDada's house and CHOP (with reenactment) de wood and make a big bo-oi bed fo-our me and give my bed to my Baby Sister...?" It was funny and very sweet. Thankfully Nathan was here too, to hear it!
Amos also displayed his first act of sibling rivalry the other day, saying "I don't want Baby Sister to touch my bwankets." "Ok, I said, She'll have her own and please be nice!"
Tonight, we went out for dinner. The boys sat next to each other across from me and they were so cute together. I couldn't resist, I had to take their picture!

Hey Sarah, You should post a picture of the backpack y'all made...I was just thinking this morning about how on earth you would make a backpack. I'd love to see it! It's fun to see you all having so much fun!
