Short update...

I know, it's been awhile. I have fallen behind! Oh well! I will catch up, but until then, here's a little update.

1) HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAMMY CAROLE!!
Nathan's mom celebrated her birthday on Thursday and we were so glad to celebrate from afar. Amos did a great painting project (there are a few more birthdays coming up...) and had fun making a card for her!

2) On Friday, we had an appointment with our neurosurgeon, a checkup. We sat for about 10 minutes, answered questions and then he said, "He looks great--I'm happy with how he's doing, see you in a year!" WOO HOO! I don't think we've ever gone a year (so far) without seeing our neurosurgeon. We were definitely praising God for such great news!

3) On Saturday, we did our taxes. Nathan spent the afternoon helping to rebuild our friends' shed and I got our menu and shopping lists organized (AGAIN!!). I hope this system will work!
Poor Amos was so cooped up all day, asking for friends to come over and running in circles. But he did ok--a bath last night helped him get the wiggles out!

4) I have wanted to mention that Amos' sound-based language is officially out the door, only to be replaced by words and only words! Boo hoo! My favorite sound has finally left the building: Man-u-MAH! I loved it when Amos would discover a guitar somewhere, on the wall, on someone's t-shirt or wherever else, and would say with delight, "Mama, Man-u-MAH!" It was so sweet! I know we have it on video. He also says drums and piano now. And, he loves them all! Still, signs of Amos as a two year old continue to crop up. He also is learning how to smell and when he realizes he's discovered a smell, he scrunches up his nose to accentuate the smelling of the smell. SO CUTE! Sometimes he knows what it is, but other times he just says, "Mama, a smell!"

5) Amos used the potty early Saturday morning and then yesterday afternoon. He woke up screaming with a tummy ache, so I rushed him to the bathroom after he started to gag. And yes, he finally projectiled (into) the potty (THANK GOODNESS!) and even though it was very sad, we were all very thankful that we were in the bathroom! Then later yesterday, he was a bit stopped up and finally was able to go. I sat him on the potty and he was happy to be able to flush it away and get two animal graham crackers! I hope this is the start of a new era! (We'll see...)

6) Amos has been teething again lately and has been miserable. He has little to no appetite and cannot deal with even the slightest thing. It's all related, I know: the no eating leads to low blood sugar and trouble sleeping which all lead to constant fits. This morning was no exception, with Amos freaking out in the middle of church. Thankfully, we've been working with him to "calm down" and "take deep breaths" so hopefully that can help. This afternoon he took a great nap after only wanting to eat tomato soup and crackers for lunch (somehow, the though of chomping on chicken nuggets made him gag...go figure!). We all took naps and woke up to a beautiful afternoon. We hiked around the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art and then had an awesome dinner of scrambled eggs and waffles. We were so happy as we watched Amos devour his food-something he has not done in a few days!
My boys are now running laps downstairs--Nathan is chasing Amos while playing Mariachi music on the guitar! LOVE IT!!

Whew! Ok, there it is--a small but detailed update. Pictures to come--they take longer to do. I'm going to spend some quality time with my treadmill! :)
