Happy Birthday (Aunt) Bethany!!

(I know, I know, the day is almost over in Malawi, but this is the first chance I've had to be at the computer!!)
Today is Beth's birthday and she is a young 25 years old. Bethany is the fourth in our family and my first sister. Back when my mom was pregnant with her, they didn't find out the gender so it was up to me to pray for 9 long months for a sister. I told everyone I was praying for a sister and I remember the reaction mostly being, "That's nice."
On the day she was born, my neighbor's mom came to get me from Kinnygarden (as I called it) and told me that my grandma was at our house with something to tell me. I knew that meant that my mom was having the baby. And when I got there, she announced that it was a sister! I was so happy!
Through the years, I've come to admire Beth's sense of self-confidence and ability to be straight-forward. She's adventurous, creative, silly and most of all sweet and very loving. It's been great to be moms together, even if it is through Skype and Google Reader!

I love you , sister! I'm so glad you were born and are in our family. And I'm glad we get to celebrate another year with you!
(Your card is in the (e)mail!).
