Lately Amos has really been showing off his two-year old skills.
He's been learning how to drink from a cup without a lid (and NOT playing in or spilling the water...); he's also been taking his breathing treatments through a mask and will even sit and hold the thing by himself!!! so I can get up and do something else productive!! Most of the time he gets rewarded by getting to watch a Clifford episode, but sometimes we'll read books, too.
And tonight, he got himself all excited because we had music practice at the house again. Since we left the fly-swatter in the car, he got out the frying pan and played guitar to his little heart's content, until he discovered the cello (and the stick thing that it rests on), Our friend, Wolfy's cool computer set up and keyboard, and the music stand. And then it was time to remember that Amos is two and can only help himself so much before he has to touch everything in sight.
He promptly threw a two year old fit and then was disciplined. Ahhh...
Anyway, it seems like lately and today, especially, Amos has really been showing his two-year old stuff. The best example, since it all runs together in my mind, is that when you scold him, he immediately says, "Dada!" like Dada will magically swoop in and rescue him. When Nathan is around, he says a firm "No!" so that Amos gets the point that it's not ok to ask for the other parent. We think this is what he means. Who knows?!
As I type this post, Amos is on my lap. He's been in bed for the last 45 minutes (I put him in at 9) I've gone in there numerous times. The last time I went in, I asked if he was hungry and he said yes. Argh! I even made sure to give him a bedtime snack!! Needless to say, I'm pretty worn out, and am ready to be done for the day. Nathan is at a session meeting, so it's just Amos and I.
Luckily, reruns of the Office are about to come on, so we'll have something to do while we snack! :)
