Catching up

This week has been busy, getting used to being back here and doing Summer Fest at church. Art with the kids went really well. Each night was better than the one before and Thursday night was our best overall, with the kids enjoying their collage projects. Who knew that getting them to paste, stick and color onto paper would hold their attention the longest?!
We were visited again by storms, Friday night. We slept on the living room floor again and I didn't sleep very much. Amos and Nathan did well, even sleeping through the big storm at 5 that morning. The folks in counties south of us were not as fortunate, as many homes were flooded up to the roofs and parts of I-65 had to be closed. So yesterday, as people were out assessing damage and more thunder, lightning and rain came, we took the opportunity to have a rain day, lounging, playing and watching lots of the Weather Channel. We did get some things done, those fun house chores, bills paid and hair cuts! Nathan and Amos are ready to face summer with less hair on their heads!! Around 7 last night, the sun came out and we thought about going out, but realized that even though it felt like 4 in the afternoon, that it was nearing dinner and bed time. After we got Amos in bed, we watched Lars and the Real Girl, a surprisingly sweet movie about a guy who orders a life-sized doll and acts as though she's real. It was really good, in ways that are hard to say without giving too much of the movie away.
Church was good this morning. It's been a few weeks since Amos and I have been. He's getting better at sitting through. He loves the singing parts and loves to sit with Dada during the preaching. While in church, I realized that a year ago, this weekend, we were here, interviewing and checking the place out to possibly make the move. It's crazy to think that it's been a year and all that has happened. It was a crazy, hard time, stressful and unsure. God was good to us through it but I'm glad we're on this side!
Here are some pictures from our week. Enjoy!

"I'm Amos and I got crazy hair! Give me some candy!"

Amos' first time in a Jupiter Jump bouncy castle!

Amos got new shoes on Thursday!!

On Friday, we went up north to a beautiful grocery store. This is the center of it, with produce and natural foods. All of the other sections (dairy, bakery, deli) are in their own little rooms off to the side. It was great to find something so pretty and enjoyable here.

Also on Friday we went to the airport to welcome our friends, Paul and Cindy Neal, who had just been in Ethiopia, picking up their newly adopted son, Belachew. He is even cuter in person but was shy at the airport, understandably!

Friday night we had our favorite date-at-home dinner, Sushi. Here, Amos is trying some edamame!

On Saturday, Amos helped me fold laundry!

He and Dada worked on his new lawnmower, first with a drill and screw driver,

and then with two drills. Amos went over to the basement stairs and emphatically pointed to Nathan's drill, wanting him to use it on his lawnmower.

First Dada, then Amos!

Haircuts! Nathan, after and Amos, before!

Getting ready!!

Success!! I've got two handsome guys!
