Last night Amos slept for 6 hours. We were so glad when we woke up at 4 and realized that we had slept for awhile. That was nice. After a breathing treatment and more medicine, Amos went back to sleep in his bed. We slept awhile more and when we woke up, Amos was ready for breakfast. We had a pretty good day, with a good 2 hour nap for Amos. We are all still sick, but we're trying to stay on top of treatments and medicine. Nathan and I are more stuffy and spacey today. We don't feel great, but we don't feel too horrible either. Hopefully this is the worst of it!
Lately, in the last week or so, Amos has been walking more and crawling less. We have been trying to help him stop sitting with his legs in a "W" which prevents his core muscles from strengthening and widens his hips, and I think that's helped. We stretch his legs out in front of him if he's sitting on the floor playing, and that has seemed to help things. With more walking, he's carrying toys around with him and is Frankenstein walking less. He also seems to really enjoy it too.
He's also broadening his tastes, eating Ezekiel Bread raisin toast, decaffeinated green tea (with honey), tomato soup with lots of saltines and cheese toast. He's not been eating great, but he does eat if we put the bite in his mouth. So I'm glad that he eats well, even though his appetite is low, probably from having a stuffy nose.
Another thing worth noting: Nathan shaved his beard off the Saturday before Easter. I was out on an errand and Nathan decided to shave and surprise me. He tried to get Amos involved and when Nathan offered the whiskers for Amos to touch, he freaked out and didn't want to! For the rest of the night, it was like he was mad at Nathan. As soon as I got home, he jumped into my arms, gripped my neck tightly and wouldn't look at Nathan. It was heart breaking, especially for Nathan, who had no idea that Amos would react that way. The next morning, Amos wanted to be with Nathan, after the church service ended. Nathan was so happy to have affection from Amos again that he held onto him and played guitar at the same time. Lots of people were impressed with Nathan's mulitasking!
And that was it. The winter beard has faded in our memories and we're all looking forward to warmer weather. It's still a bit cool and rainy so hopefully it will warm up soon.
