Yesterday was a big day for Nathan and I and for our family. After a year of studying and preparation, Nathan was ordained as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church of America. During the ordination, there were many questions that he and our friend Kyle, who was also being ordained, had to answer. The final question summed it all up: "Do you promise to strive for the purity, peace, unity and edification of the church?" and Nathan answered, "I do." The church then acknowledged and received their new elders and then they were installed with this declaration by our pastor, Jason:
"I now pronounce and declare that Chad Davis (who was being ordained but was not there), Nathan Partain and Kyle Ragsdale have been regularly elected, ordained, and installed as ruling elders in this church, agreeable to the Word of God and according to the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church in America and that, as such, they are entitled to all encouragement, honor and obedience in the Lord. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen."
