In defense of Babywearing. (Yes, it's important.)

Babywearing is important, for many reasons.

Babywearing helps me keep my children healthy. With Amos it was important and helpful in keeping him from getting sick. Putting him in the Baby Bjorn each week for church was instrumental in following the doctor's orders. It helped to keep him close, away from those who meant well but were also germy.

Babywearing also helps with and is important in furthering the bond between parent and child. We had alot of catching up to do and having him close to my heart helped us feel closer to each other.

With Flannery, it's been just as important to take time to bond with her, especially since we don't have all the extra time as with Amos. Wearing her close has been helpful in that.

Babywearing has helped our babies to sleep when we weren't able to put them in their cozy bed for a nap. Amos used to sleep through church and Flannery now regularly naps during church and other outings.

Babywearing is also practical and helps us to be better parents and caregivers. Soothing a teething baby while cooking dinner isn't easy, but when I put Flannery in the sling, she calmed down immediately.

It's also an awesome way for moms and dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends to stay connected with our child(ren). Nathan has been able to wear both Amos and Flannery and has always enjoyed it. My brother even put Amos in the Bjorn once, to take him fishing!
