Just how I feel

So after watching Obama accept the nomination last night, I went to bed, praying for our country, that God would care for us no matter who is elected president.
The whole time he spoke about working for the middle class, giving a voice to the common man, bringing change to Washington, I kept thinking, "Yeah, but you don't stand up for unborn children," who are probably the most vulnerable human beings and who need the most protection and voice. How can I trust him to really care for us?
I have said before that I probably am a one-issue voter. I think a candidate's stance on abortion affects the way I think about them and whether or not I will vote for them. Yes, I know that there are other more pressing issues out there: the economy, the war, health care and education. But I feel that if I can't trust someone to speak out for and protect an unborn child, for the sake of women's rights (I'll comment on that in a minute), then I can't trust them fully, to always have the best interest in mind for the good of us all.
Abortion not only kills living souls but it also is a lie to women. They are told that they can get it taken out of their life and not have to worry about the baby again. Most times the opposite happens: they are devastated and live with great guilt for the rest of their lives. They put their bodies in danger, both physically and emotionally.
Many of the pro-choicers I know and have talked to say, "I probably would never do it, but I won't tell someone else what to do or not do with their body." That's ridiculous! How unloving and uncaring and very tolerant and non-absolute of us, as a culture. I think it's sad that in the name of women's rights, we have allowed abortions to be performed, women's bodies to be jeopardized and babies killed, just so they can say that it's what they wanted to choose.
This article is very slanted, but, sheds more light on a core issue that I think, effects them all and that is why I will not vote for Obama and will fight to have a pro-life president.
It does matter. One issue can and does effect a whole lot of other issues and that matters.
Thanks for letting me say how I feel. I will try to keep the political banter to a minimum this fall!

((Having said all of this, I hope to someday be in a position to reach out to unwed, pregnant women, or women who have gone through an abortion, who need help and care that really loves them. It's a good wakeup call for us Christians, to be supportive and caring for this group of people who are often forgotten.))

I was JUST reading up on Obama's terrible history on abortion. And I was having THE SAME THOUGHTS in my mind just before seeing your blog updated in my google reader. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU 100 PERCENT. People like to shove the abortion issue under the carpet. It makes me sick. I love Donald Miller, but I have seen the affects of his political agenda affect so many young Christians, and I just want to scream "WHAT ABOUT ABORTION??"...
As a Christian, I feel absolutely called to oppose it and not to sweep it under the carpet. Abortion is simply murder for convenience. Plain and simple.
