Other goings ons...

The past week has been a fun hodge-podge of events.
Last Wednesday night, our friend Michael came over for dinner and afterward, we played a game of Scrabble. Amos has been really enjoying sitting at the table with us and this time was no exception. He "helped" me by arranging and rearranging my letters, dropping them on the floor and revealing them to the guys. He had fun doing it and we were laughing at how cute he was.


On Thursday, Nathan went to a bachelor party for our friend Kyle, who got marrieid on Saturday. He put on a suit that he doesn't wear often (the one he wore in Joel Garies' wedding) and proved to be the most colorful suit-wearer there. He enjoyed the party and was a bit surprised (as were the other guys), when a tree fell on the Tafts' house, where the party was going on.


On Friday, Amos and I walked to their house to see the tree and to watch the crew cut it up for the chipper. Amos loved watching the chainsaws and giant trucks and we were there for almost an hour.


Friday night we had yummy grocery store sushi and I topped dinner off with my version of an(accidental) Andy Goldsworthy art masterpiece. The ice went to one side after I took the last sip of water and it melted away. Sadly we were upstairs and missed the melting but enjoyed this view while it lasted.


On Saturday (aside from marking Bono's birthday and celebrating Mother's Day, early, we went to the wedding of our friends, Kyle and Cindy. It was really beautiful and not typical. In fact, elements of it reminded us of our wedding: their "mob" of attendants and the beautiful batique that reminded us of our tie-dyed bridesmaid dresses.

The wedding was a blast and we got to stay at the reception for a long while. Amos played at the Berends' house with the kids and a new babysitter and was not crying (!!!) when I went to pick him up. He was having a great time and the only reason I picked him up early was because it was getting close to his bed time and I wanted to spare everyone from a cranky Amos. We went back to the reception and he had fun dancing and socializing! We had a GREAT time sitting together in a pew, through the ceremony, and then eating together, sitting at the table, talking and hanging out. We were thankful that Amos did so well.
