After that, it was time to paint. Nathan had music practice that morning, so Amos and I had to find exciting things to do on a Saturday morning, which somehow feels different from a regular morning!
Amos happily got ready to paint, and for that day, the focus was on green (as we anticipate St. Patrick's Day!). Amos really enjoyed painting with the brush on paper and then painted with his hands on his tray. The paint on his hands intrigued him so when his hands were all green, he was a bit perplexed and, I think, worried. I wiped his hands clean, fed him lunch and then it was time for a midday bath, which Amos really enjoyed, and had, without his bath seat, the entire time. He's really growing up!!

My plan was to wait until Nathan came home so they could play some before nap time. But it didn't happen, so after 45 minutes, Amos came out of the bath and got ready to nap. He fell alseep and five minutes later Nathan got home. I promptly left to go shopping for jeans and enjoyed getting out by myself. I called to check in with the boys around 2:30 and asked how everything was going. Nathan reported that all was well, that he was going in to get Amos up from his nap. I could not believe that the one day I wasn't home, getting things done, was the day the he took a two hour nap!!! Classic. Jeans shopping went well, with good finds in both the Junior's and Misses sections. I guess they need to have a section that's called "your thirties" for those of us that are not in one or the other camp!
Sunday night, while Nathan and I played Scrabble (tangent: we tried to play a faster game, and so we used the nine-letter version, instead of the seven-letter version, and it was sooo tough. The amount of letters you had to choose from made every turn overwhelming and the game ended up taking forever! Robbins, hurry up and get here so we can play four-person Scrabble again!), Amos crawled into the drawer on the TV hutch and threw all of his toys out. Then he would say, "Uh-oh" and would get out and put them back in. Of course, he was cute as ever!

On Monday we all slept in and hung out together, eating yummy oatmeal and playing before Nathan took off for work. He was excited to try out Dan's bike, as he had gotten all set up and located the special bike shoes. He was a pretty funny sight, going out the door! ( The pictures don't quite capture how big his backpack was and how bundled up he was! He's a good sport for letting me laugh at him and take his picture for the blog!).

Amos showed off his Frankenstein walking skills at the Library.
Today has been another good day. The weather is still a bit chilly, but is sunny and we hope to see Spring and warmth soon. Amos has been wearing me thin, though, with his will. Yesterday at the Library and then, at home, he's thrown fits, arching his back and screaming, when I decide it's time to change what we're doing. And no amount of warning him of the change, or reasoning through the change, helps. So yeah, we've reached the classic toddler-fit stage. That's ok, I'll just need those extra prayers we were talking about, when we noticed how feisty Amos was while in the NICU.
And in an effort to get Amos to sleep for awhile, I repeated the routine from Saturday, giving him lunch at 11:45 and a walk outside afterward. He went to sleep at 12:45, was up at 1:15 (???) and went back to sleep after I laid him back down. I haven't heard a peep since then and hopes that he sleeps for awhile longer!
Other big boy developments: Amos, in the last few weeks, has begun saying his "O's" and "Uh-oh" instead of "Ah-hah." He also knows most parts of the face, with "chinny-chin-chin" being the newest addition of knowledge and cheeks being next on the horizon. Last week, he found his belly button, which has been alot of fun.
And since our visit to the Library yesterday, Amos has enjoyed reading the truck book that we checked out, as well as his other books, sitting and turning their pages.
I am really excited for the books phase, as it is a great way to stretch their minds and pass the time. I am also really excited for the coming months and for all of the things we get to experience with Amos. This age is really fun and he is an even more fun and engaging little guy, the older he gets.
