Lately, as colder temperatures have kept us inside, Nathan has been very supportive of me getting out to do things without Amos. Since Amos has been eating mostly table foods, it's easier for Nathan to take care of him, and we are realizing now, that his help could be key to helping Amos become more independent. In the last few weeks, especially, Nathan has been sweet about making sure I get out and have time away.
Last Thursday, I went for a lunch time performance of "The Rite of Spring" by
Igor Stravinsky. It was such a treat, as it's an incredibly difficult piece to play and to conduct. I had no idea what I was in for, and was delighted to go with Julie Berend and other ladies from the church. It was also my first time to go to the Symphony and I really enjoyed it!
Tonight, I went out to another movie!! I went to see Juno, a really sweet movie about a teenager who gets pregnant and puts the baby up for adoption. It was really cool to see the progression and to watch the characters all deal with the hand they were dealt.
I had such a great time. I went with my friend, Liz, whose husband stayed with their kids. We really enjoyed the movie and getting out for awhile.
Amos did ok with Nathan. He does alot better with Nathan, than with most people, and I returned to a toddler half asleep on his daddy's chest. Much better than coming home to a sad one!
I am glad to be able to get out more, and look forward to hopefully getting to know people better too. Eventually, we hope to go out together and get Amos used to being with a babysitter. One step at a time, I suppose!

I love "Rite of Spring!" It was created for a ballet, you know :) It incited riots the first time it was played... but you probably know all that from your program notes. If you ever get to see the ballet, you should. It's crazy.
